Enjoyment of natural heritage, rich history, geographical offerings, and broader markets nationally, regionally, and internationally provides a suitable platform for the remarkable opportunities provided by the global tourism market. Successful and sustainable tourism worldwide is a platform to advance conservation tourism. Eager, well-trained personnel in the tourism industry can ensure excellent performance with tourists, and their environmental knowledge can contribute to achieving objectives in the realm of environmental education. This paper provides a picture of the status of the teaching workforce in the tourism sector of the city of Mashhad, Iran. These teachers have acquired environmental literacy and know the importance of promoting environmental education. Results show that only 36/7% of women and 23/4% of men in Iran have a positive attitude towards environmental concepts. Therefore, environmentalism must play a broader role, through both education and tourism.
