The Development of the Sports Tourism Value Chain within the Paradigmatic Link between Marketing and Strategic Analysis in Tourist Destinations

Abstract

Background and Purpose: Sports tourism is one of the most unique and important types of tourism, prompting many societies to take significant measures to develop its value chain. The primary objective of the present article is to identify the key factors and components in the development of the sports tourism value chain, with reference to the paradigmatic link between marketing and strategic analysis in tourist destinations.

Methodology: This study is applied research that employs a qualitative grounded theory approach to extract relevant codes and concepts. The data collection tool consists of interviews conducted with experts in tourism, sports management, strategic management, marketing management, and sociology, who possess diverse experiences and perspectives in this field. The sampling method is purposive sampling, which is one of the most important qualitative sampling techniques. The approach used in the grounded theory method is the systematic approach of Strauss and Corbin, where extracted propositions are categorized into three groups: open codes, axial codes, and selective codes.

Findings: According to the research findings, after analyzing the interviews and coding each of them, a total of 231 raw codes, 102 open codes, 48 axial codes, and 13 selective codes were obtained.
